WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE (WASH)!

We have built wide range of rain-harvesting water structures in vast areas of the county that lack any form of reliable water sources and instituted alternative form of livelihood for the pastoralist, fisher folks and other minorities.

Pastoralist Integrated Support Programme (PISP) exists to reduce poverty and vulnerability amongst pastoralist communities in Marsabit County through provision of appropriate community empowerment strategies for enhanced and sustainable development.

 

Water & Sanitation
To reduce shocks associated with recurrent episodes of the devastating droughts.

Peace Building
Builds trust & harmonious co-existence among various groups and communities.

Education
To enable the school going age children among the nomadic families acquire basic education.

Micro Enterprises
Supports communities to diversify sources of income than solely relying on livestock sector.

Livelihood
Livestock redistribution for the communities worst affected during droughts and conflicts.

Emergency Intervention
Carries out various emergency related activities in the county during drought emergencies.

Good Governance
As means to ensure pro-poor policies that benefit wider sections of the society.

Health & Nutrition
Targets vulnerable women and children below the age of five years in the target communities.

Reducing poverty and vulnerability amongst pastoralist communities

Areas of focus include Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Livelihoods Support and Development, Leadership and Good Governance, Education, Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Enterprise and Capacity Development Services and Health and Nutrition.
