Our Story

An indigenous, non-partisan nonprofit since 1996.

Pastoralist Integrated Support Programme (PISP) is an indigenous, non-partisan nonprofit registered in Kenya in 1996 with the NGO Coordination Board (Reg. No. OP.218/051/95209/585).

PISP works across Marsabit County in Northern Kenya, strengthening the resilience of pastoral communities against drought, climate change and conflict.

The organisation is recognised as a pioneer in rainwater harvesting technologies in Northern Kenya, and was awarded the 2004 Equator Initiative Award by UNDP and IUCN for this work.

Today PISP delivers four integrated programmes — WASH; Climate Action, Drought Management, Livelihoods & Resilience; Leadership, Governance & Development; and Security, Peace Building, Conflict Prevention & Recovery — working hand in hand with the communities of Marsabit County.
